Our assessmentBitwarden is the password manager to pick when you want every core feature without paying: unlimited passwords, unlimited devices and cross-platform sync are all on the free plan. The clients are open source and the server has been audited repeatedly, which matters more than polish for a vault. The trade-off is an interface that is functional rather than refined, and autofill that occasionally needs a nudge on complex login forms.

Our assessmentVault data is end-to-end encrypted with a key derived from the master password. The browser extension requests access to all sites so it can offer autofill; it does not need that access to store entries.

- Yes. The free personal plan syncs across every device you sign in on; paid tiers add extra features rather than more devices.
- Can I use Bitwarden without the cloud?
- You can self-host the server, but there is no purely local mode in the official clients. For an offline-only vault, see KeePassXC.
